Abdullah Orkun Kaya

I am the CAO of Symanto which is a Germany-based big data analytics company and the founder and managing partner of BlueCap Strategic Solutions which is an Estonia-based boutique strategy consulting and investment firm focusing on retail, energy tech, ICT and digital. I am also an angel investor and venture mentor mainly in digital domain.

Previously I originated and executed the acquisition of Millenicom (challenger ISP in Turkey) by EWE which is a German multi-utility company with gas distribution and retail electricity assets in Turkey. I also built the management team and served as the member of the advisory board (2015-2016)

Before that, I was the CEO of TTNET, Turkey’s largest ISP with over 6 million fixed broadband subscribers. Prior to that, I was the CFO of TTNET and Investor Relations Director of Turk Telekom – TTNET’s parent company. (2008-2014)

Before my roles at Turk Telekom Group, I was an investment banker at Merrill Lynch UK (2006-2008)and worked for Capital Markets Board of Turkey. (1999-2004)

I hold an MBA degree from MIT Sloan School of Management and a BSc in Management from Bilkent University.

I was the first professional from Turkey accepted to The Crans Montana Forum New Leaders for Tomorrow upon nomination by UNDP and was a “CEO of the Year” finalist in World Communication Awards in 2014. I sit at the Advisory Board of Bilkent University Business School. I was previously the Chairman of Turkish Investor Relations Society and I sat on the Boards of Turkish Venture Capital and Private Equity Association, Capital Markets Professionals Association and Bilkent Alumni Association. I taught graduate-level courses on “Strategic Behavior and Competition in Telecommunications” at Koç University and Bosphorus University. I offer the same course at Bilkent University MBA Program since 2015.
